IADA is Excited To Announce Enhanced Title & Reg Training Hosted By CVR

Beginning in March, CVR will host monthly training workshops in all different areas of the state in conjunction with their weekly Friday webinars. If your dealership wants all the information needed to make your title and registration process run as smoothly as possible, make sure to send your staff to one of these. Illinois Legislative Update

All eyes are on the State Capitol as the Illinois Legislature has less than two weeks before bill introduction passes. Presently, IADA is monitoring many pieces of legislation that has been introduced and will provide a full report once the introduction deadline passes. To date, these are some of the bills which could affect franchised dealers: dealership-related bills

Ford Electric Vehicle Protest

The IADA Legal Defense Fund has supported a group of 29 Illinois Ford dealers who have filed a protest with the Illinois Motor Vehicle Review Board to challenge Ford’s misguided electric vehicle allocation program, the Ford Model e Program. Ford’s Model e Program places unreasonable public charging station requirements and interferes with dealer/customer price negotiation, and unfairly allocates electric vehicles.

The Model e Program would erode important provisions in the Motor Vehicle Franchise Act. IADA has committed to defending the Franchise Act for the benefit of all Illinois dealers by providing up to $100,000 in financial assistance to support the Ford dealer protest. With some of the new EV-only manufacturers attempting to sell vehicles direct, more and more challenges will arise.

Could It Happen at Your Dealership

SCENARIO
An out-of-state customer purchased a vehicle online with manufacturer financing that was arranged through the dealership. A local transportation company arranged for the vehicle to be picked up at the dealership and delivered across the country.

One week after the sale, the insured was advised by local law enforcement that the vehicle had been purchased with the false identification of a man who had been contacted by the lender requesting the initial payment. Further investigation revealed that the transportation company was contacted after the vehicle was picked up at the dealership, and arrangements were made for delivery to a new location in a different state.
